The spook's Apprentice
Joseph Delaney

I'm going to write a review on the book the spooks apprantice, it is a book with a lot of imagination and excitement. It seems a little on Harry Potter which I find nice books.
The story begins after the arrival of the spook, that Tom takes as his pupil at the age of thirteen. Tom is the seventh son of a seventh son, and he has the 'gift of seven times seven'. Thereby he can see things that other people can't see. His mother married a seventh son, so that they could give birth to Tom. The spook is a long, old man carrying a wooden staff in his left hand, he travels through the County hunts at tricky creatures such as ghosts, spirits and witches for the people who suffer from these creatures. But the people hate them, because the spook interferes with dark forces and this is something against their faith. The spook is actually a very caring person and he treats Tom as if it were his own son. He explains that most of the other students have failed because they didn’t listen or they were coward and are killed. The staff of the Ghost is not just a staff but a very special staff. Later Tom realizes that it is a very useful tool to defeat witches. But only the smallest staff of the spook, can be used for this. As Tom has arrived at the House of the spook, he begins the same study. The first thing he learns is that he never must trust women, and certainly not women with point shoes. When he shops he meets a girl, her name is Annelie and she tells that in her family are the most dangerous witches. She tells that a spook had tied her mother with 13 iron bars, and then disappeared. Tom had to defeat the Witch and gets unexpected help from the girl Annelie.
I think it's a fun book, because it a lot of fantasy and I like that. Also it is a good story line. It is a fine book to read because there is clear everything word tells. If I will give the book a rate I think it's a 8.5 because it's a fun and good story.
